NAN & A WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE - ABC TV, Tampere Film Festival, ImagineNative, Flickerfest

 

Nan, of Australian Aboriginal and Irish descent, keeps a photo album of dead family members. Younger sister Min believes this morbid European tradition is culturally inappropriate.

Told with warmth and humour, this short film tackles cultural taboos.

A 12 minute short drama written by Sue McPherson, based on characters from her award winning novel “Grace Beside Me”.

Cast: Nan: Noeleen Shearer; Aunty Min: Pamela Young; Fuzzy: Amba-Rose Atkinson; and Dougal the dog as Trouble.

Commissioned by ABC TV.

Selected for Flickerfest 2016 and toured nationally with Best of Australian Shorts program. International premiere - ImagineNATIVE Toronto 2016, official selection Winda Film Festival Sydney, St Kilda, Noosa and Dungog Film Festivals. Semi Finalist Los Angeles CineFest.

Developed through The Exchange program of Screen Australia’s Indigenous department, completed July 2015.
